The Conference of the Parties to the UN Economic Commission for Europe Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents opened in Geneva on 3rd December 2014 and ended on December 5th.

The start of the meeting coincided with the 30th anniversary of the largest chemical accident in human history, which occurred in Bhopal, India, when the release of highly toxic gas from the Union Carbide pesticide plant killed thousands of people. To remember the Bhopal tragedy, the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has prepared a special edition of the Loss Prevention Bulletin that is freely available for download on the IChemE website.
