Hazardous Waste Management Training – Tajikistan

In June 2015, a two-day training on debris and hazardous waste management was delivered by the UNEP/OCHA Joint Unit in Shurob, a coal mining town in Sughd province of Tajikistan.

The theory training of 16 residents consisted of occupational health, safety and risk assessments, as well as asbestos waste management. The training also involved practical work such as evaluating risks, moving rubble, expanding flood barriers in the town, demolition work and asbestos disposal activities. More funding and structural assessments are needed to judge the conditions of houses in the town.
