This factsheet provides an overview of the Environmental Emergencies Centre (EEC), an online tool designed to strengthen the capacities of national responders and humanitarians to respond to environmental dimensions of emergencies. The UNEP/OCHA Joint Environment Unit (JEU) acts as the custodian of the site.
The EEC was established in 2012, with the support of Norway and Sweden. It provides users with a one-stop-shop of information relevant to the preparedness, prevention and response stages of an environmental emergency, including links to the online trainings. The EEC serves as a main knowledge hub and allows users to build on their own mechanisms and to draw on the resources and services of EEC partners.
